Leafs likely to trade Lilligrand, so apparently they're looking to find a spot for him elsewhere. Here's the thing. I've never seen a trade in October be great. But I can tell you where you can get some real value for a right shot defenseman that doesn't fit in your system. Trade deadline. And I know people are like, let's clear the space now. You don't need yar croak, you don't need comp, you don't need doer, you don't. Well, I actually think a lot of Leaf fans like Doer, but you don't need comps contract. You don't need yarn. Cook's contract. You don't need Lillegren's contract. The reality of the situation is they can carry them well. And also, guys get hurt and guys get hurt. And I look at Lilligran and I go, okay, yeah, you could try to. He's probably not thrilled being the 8th defenseman on this team.

Fine.

But he is. And he doesn't fit Berub a system. And it seems like this is coming to an end. I would wait until you get value for him. Guys like that are so valuable going into trade deadline. And I just look at this and I'm like, okay, do you want a third and a fifth round pick for Timothy Lillegren?

Not really.

Or do you want maybe a second?

Here's how it could work potentially. I don't think you're getting a second for him. I would love that.

But at trade deadline, defense, they also.

Might need the cap space before that. Yeah, and he also has to be in the lineup for them to get a second. Like. Yeah, he has to increase his value by playing. Remember the old pump and dump with Phenofde? Like they need something like that. Or you, you're gonna have to be, your hand is gonna be forced when guys come back from injury because you need that cap.

Yeah. If he plays well enough to be worth a second round pick, you keep him. Yeah, that's what, that's what I think.

And we have to see more from Connor Timmons, too, to see if he actually sticks.

Yeah, and there's also, we haven't even had Myers playing.

That's what I mean. Philip Myers is an interesting one, too.

The error here is letting it get to the point. Point where Lilligran is probably their 9th defenseman. Like, that's, that's probably 9th. That's probably the 9th. If you're putting Myers ahead of him and so be timid. I don't want to count it. Eight then.

How about this? Like, okay, he picked the right goalie, too. Yeah. Like, what if he signed, you know, it's early, but what if it was the Lankanin or Kakkonen or it's like they pick the right guy with. Yeah, exactly. They picked the right guy with Stolar. So I think that's, you know, that's a credit to them. And, like, his numbers have been really good. The only thing that would have maybe spooked you off is that, you know, prior to, you know, let's call it the last couple of years, he had been hurt. You know, 27 games is the most that he played, and you're theoretically putting him in a situation where, you know, he's got to play 30 to 35 plus. Even if Joseph Wall is healthy. Right. So that's the only thing that maybe would have spooked you. But they've picked the right guy. So credit to them for identifying him.

And this guy in the last game put together a performance that, like, just. I don't know if he'll ever have that kind of performance again or if he ever, ever had that kind of performance again. Like, it was an absurd amount of shots in game five. And it's just like, it was probably just like an out of body experience for him.

But I want to talk about Gino, because Gino's leading the league in points along with their tempe Panaran right now. And, you know, you played with Gino. What's the guy like to play with?

It's a. It's a great question because I was nothing, like, exactly established there in Pittsburgh. Like, I would get called up, I would hang around for a couple weeks, maybe play a game, maybe not go back to Wilkes, Barry come back, and so, like, I don't even think he really knew my name or anything like that. You know, we were just kind of, like teammates in law at that point.

I like that.

But, like, see you again, Franklin.

I don't even think it was that, but, like, um, so, so good with his stick. Like, this is what would always freaked me out in practice. Like, you kind of think you have him, and it almost looks casual, and it's like, bang, bang, and he got through you. Or, like, he made this slick little pass. Like, he was so good at, like, making it seem like maybe he had let his guard down a little bit or it looked casual, and then it just. In a second, it was like, whoa. I did not see that coming. Like, very, very elusive, very slippery that way. He's an interesting guy because, like, he's. He's interesting in the room. Like, he's upbeat. Like, he's always kind of wanting to be in whatever joke is being said or whatever. And there's obviously, you know, at the card table, he would hang around with some of those guys, and he would always be one of the loudest guys there. But, yeah, like, I kind of think, you know, it's funny now watching him do what he's doing. Remember when they did the top 100 players? Correct me if I'm wrong, not in that he was not in the top 100 players.

And I think he made the joke. He's like, yeah, it was actually 101. And here he is at age, like, what is he, 37 now? And he's turning back the clock. He looks good. Like, he looks like he's got a half step more than he had last year, which is great news for the Penguins because they need. They need him.

He played a full 82 last year, had 67 points. He's played five this year. He has eleven.

I was. I was trying to look it up. He has 500 goals. Did you assist on any of them?

No, I don't think I got an assist with the Penguins. Maybe in practice, but even, you know, it's funny, though. It's funny. Like, he could drive. I think he's so good, right. Like I said, like, can look casual at times and then really turns it on. And so I think there's. I would imagine there have been a few gray hairs on Sully's head over the years, but you have to take the good with the bad. Like the guy. You guys won two Stanley Cups together. And let me ask you this, and this would be like, you'd have to go down memory lane here. Number one, center. Number two, center, two headed monster.
