President Trump departed Beijing this morning and said he made big progress on America's priorities. Daily Wire reporter Zach Jewell has the details.
Donald Trump said China will invest, quote, hundreds of billions of dollars in major American tech firms after he brought top CEOs including Elon Musk, Tim Cook, and Jensen Huang into an unscheduled meeting with Xi Jinping. Trump said the CEO introduction was a surprise to President Xi, but after they, quote, got used to the fact that we're a little off schedule here, they, quote, really had a good time. President Trump's itinerary change was a bold move move, but he says it helped spur investment talks, while also claiming Xi pledged not to provide military equipment to Iran and expressed support for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open amid ongoing regional tensions.
Iran was a key focus during the Beijing trip, and the standoff in the strait continues. Daily Wire Foreign Affairs reporter Kassia Kiva has the latest.
President Trump said he immediately rejected Iran's latest proposal to end the war, saying the opening line alone was enough to kill the deal.
I looked at it, and if I don't like the first sentence, I just throw it away. They have fully agreed no nuclear, and if they have any nuclear of any form, I don't read the rest.
Iranian lawmakers are reviewing legislation that would require the government to pay a €50 million reward to anyone who assassinates President Trump, according to a report from Iran International. On Iranian state television, Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said, quote, We believe the vile president of the United States, the ominous and disgraceful Zionist prime minister, and the CENTCOM commander must be targeted and subjected to reciprocal action.
Fed Chair Jerome Powell's embattled term ended today, with President Trump's pick, Kevin Warsh, now taking the reins. Powell steered the Federal Reserve through some of its most turbulent times, including the COVID lockdowns and the crippling inflation that followed. Along the way, he earned the ire of Trump for his reluctance to lower interest rates fast enough as the economy recovered. While Trump threatened to push him out early, Powell was able to hang on until the end of his full term. Now the Warsh era officially begins.
The Supreme Court dealt a blow to the pro-life fight against abortion by mail, at least for now. Daily Wire culture reporter Megan Basham reports.
The high court issued an emergency order temporarily blocking a federal appeals court ruling that struck down a Biden-era policy that allowed Mifepristone to be prescribed online and shipped by mail. The unsigned order provided no legal explanation. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented, with Alito blasting the court's, quote, unreasoned order as remarkable. What's at stake is the perpetration of a scheme to undermine our decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which restored the right of each state to decide how to regulate abortions within its borders, Alito wrote. Justice Thomas called the abortion-by-mail industry a criminal enterprise. In a statement to Morning Wire, Alliance Defending Freedom's Erin Holley vowed to continue to fight against abortion by mail until the high court can officially rule on the crucial case. Holley said, we expect the merits to wind their way back to the court, and once there, we expect a win that finally restores Dobbs' promise that allows pro-life states like Louisiana to protect mothers and babies across our nation.
Cuba's government says the country has completely run out of fuel needed to keep the lights on. Daily Wire reporter Tim Pearce has more.
Extensive blackouts across the island nation have sparked more protests, which have now gone on for several days this week. In response, CIA Director John Ratcliffe flew to Havana Thursday for a rare meeting with Cuban officials. According to the Wall Street Journal, Cuban officials say the U.S. requested the meeting and that Ratcliffe urged Cuba to make fundamental changes to work with the U.S. on economic and security issues. The Journal reports that Ratcliffe told Cuban officials they have a limited window to stabilize the island's economy and engage with the Trump administration. Meanwhile, the U.S. is taking steps to indict Cuba's former president, Raul Castro, brother of Fidel, over the downing of planes 30 years ago.
The FBI announced a $200,000 reward this week for information leading to the arrest of a former U.S. Air Force special agent and counterintelligence specialist. Monica Witt defected to Iran in 2013. Federal prosecutors say she took classified information on national security security that included research to help Iran target her former colleagues. 6 years after her defection, the U.S. charged Witt with espionage for Iran. While indicted, she remains at large.
Mobile, Alabama appears to have escaped disaster after authorities removed a bomb that threatened the city's water supply. Daily Wire assistant editor Andy Valdez has more.
Earlier this week, divers were in the middle of an inspection of the J.B. Converse Reservoir Dam when they found a grenade-like IED underwater. The dam, which has been designated as critical infrastructure holds back a 17 billion gallon reservoir that is the primary water source for Mobile. The dive team notified authorities, which sparked a multi-agency response that included the FBI's bomb squad. The IED was retrieved and destroyed.
Most of us already know we should eat more fruits and vegetables. The hard part is actually doing it consistently. Life gets busy fast. You're traveling, working long days, grabbing meals between meetings or family commitments, and suddenly realize your diet has mostly become coffee, takeout, and whatever's convenient. That's one reason Balance of Nature makes sense. Balance of Nature takes whole food ingredients from fruits and vegetables and uses a special vacuum cold process to preserve the naturally occurring phytonutrients. These ingredients are then powdered and put into capsules, making it simple to add more whole food nutrition into your daily routine. The goal isn't to replace healthy eating, it's to realistically supplement the days when life gets hectic and your diet isn't perfect. Having something simple and consistent makes a big difference. Balance of Nature focuses on whole food phytonutrition, not some trendy miracle ingredient or complicated wellness fad. Just real fruits, real vegetables, and real ingredients. Why not add it to your daily routine? It gets shipped to your door, which makes it easy to stay consistent. And at the end of the day, that's what most health decisions come down to. If something's too complicated, we'll just stop doing it.
But Balance of Nature makes it simple. Go to balanceofnature.com today and get an additional 10% off the fruits and veggies supplement subscription when you use discount code WIRE.
Professional hackers in California say they found a new way to crack Apple's state-of-the-art security system. Daily Wire assistant editor Nathan Gay reports.
Researchers with the cybersecurity firm Caliph said they used techniques learned in tests on Anthropic's Mythos AI to hack into a Mac, corrupt its memory, and access data that should be protected. While the exploit is noteworthy, the speed of Caliph's hack is also a concern. In September, Apple rolled out its memory integrity enforcement, which it described as, quote, "the culmination of an unprecedented design and engineering effort spanning half a decade." The Caliph researchers were able to use the AI tool Claude to create their hack in just 5 days.
According to court testimony, a British university student died as a result of stabbing wounds after authorities arrested him on suspicion of racism. Daily Wire reporter Drew Berkmeier has the details.
Prosecutors say 18-year-old Henry Novak had been coming home after a night out in December 2023 when he was repeatedly stabbed by a 23-year-old Vikram Digwa. One of the stab wounds made with an 8-inch ceremonial Sikh shaastar blade pierced one of Novak's lungs. When law enforcement arrived, Diwa accused Novak of racism. British police put the bleeding Novak in handcuffs until he collapsed and then took emergency steps to save the teen but failed. Diwa and his mother are on trial facing charges related to the incident.
During a recent podcast interview, former Vice President Kamala Harris said Democrats need a no bad ideas brainstorm on how to stop Republicans. Included in those bad ideas: packing the Supreme Court and getting around the Electoral College.
Look, this is a moment where there are no bad ideas. A no-bad-idea brainstorm is what I'd like to call it. And in that no-bad-ideas brainstorm, we talk about what we need to do and think about doing around the Electoral College. We talk about the idea of Supreme Court reform, which includes expanding the Supreme Court. We invite a conversation about multi-members districts.
U.S. grocery store prices are climbing as the war in Iran continues to put pressure on the global oil supply. Daily Wire homepage managing editor Jordan Schroeder has the story.
Government data released this week showed that the food prices climbed faster in April than in any month in nearly 4 years. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the price of frankfurters rose 10.7% on an annualized basis in April. Frozen fish and seafood rose 12%, and tomatoes rose nearly 40%. Analysts say that the fuel crunch caused by the continued closure of the Hormuz Strait is partly to blame, as well as tariffs and weather events that cause problems with supply chains.
The House Oversight Committee is probing several companies it says are engaged in birth tourism. That's when a foreigner comes to the U.S. to give birth so the child gets U.S. citizenship. Oversight Chairman James Comer and Congressman Brandon Gill wrote to maternity firms in California, Florida, and Texas on Thursday. They said while an immigrant giving birth in the U.S. is not a crime, the lawmakers noted that lying on a visa application is, and engaging in birth tourism is barred.
White House officials are weighing a plan for President Trump to issue 250 pardons as a way to mark the celebration of the nation's 250th birthday. Daily Wire lifestyle reporter Lauren Baier has the story.
The White House intends to go all out for America 250, but one proposed plan is raising eyebrows. Administration officials are reportedly weighing a plan to celebrate America's 250th anniversary by issuing 250 presidential pardons. Although the plan is still in preliminary discussions, it's already garnered much attention, and not all of it is positive. President Trump has been criticized from both sides of the aisle for his use of the pardon power. If the plan goes through, depending on the specific nature of those pardoned, backlash could negatively affect midterm elections.
And Scott Vincent Borba, the co-founder of the multi-billion dollar cosmetics company e.l.f., will be ordained a Catholic priest later this month. The former makeup mogul gave away his fortune and Borba entered the seminary about a decade ago when he was 42 years old. Now 52, Borba says he's never been happier.
I asked our Lord to help me be the man that he created me to be. And upon that instance, I had this massive flood of love and mercy that came into my life. It was a very mystical experience. I have never been happier in my life. Once I started to reorient myself, recalibrate myself with God's help to the focus to him, the joy started coming.
