Michael Bisping PodcastJan Mlahovic. How are you, brother?
Hello. I'm good. Thank you. All good.
Ready to go. Good to see this, the Polish power. Let's go.
Legendary Polish power.
A legendary man in the West himself. Let's go. How you been?
I'm happy. Finally, I'm going back to home inside the octagon. I am excited. Cannot wait. Almost two years break, and now I'm going back.
Jan, how has it been in the layoff? How soon were Boring. What's that? Boring?
Boring. I cannot punch anybody in the face in legal way.
Jan, I know you must have been keeping yourself pretty occupied, though, because I've heard some stories of some of the epic hiking and trail running and mountain biking and stuff you're doing. You're still doing a lot of that stuff. And if so, what's the craziest thing you got into while we haven't seen you inside the octagon?
I think I'm climbing with the...
The craziest We want the craziest.
Craziest? I don't know what was the craziest, but I think that without any knowledge, I go to the very dangerous mountain with my friend. I When we were just climbing with the equipment, with everything, but one mistake and we're going to die. I don't know. Two months before fight.
Why have you been away for two years?
Was it an Why have you had two years away?
I'm assuming you were in- Yeah, surgery because of the surgery.
Because of the surgery, one shoulder, second shoulder, the sole shoulder. I have couple of surgery in my life, but that was the hardest one. The recovery was very tough and long, and I didn't expect that. I need more time than I think so. That's why it was a long break.
Well, in the two years that you've been away, a lot has happened in the light heavyweight division. Obviously, Alex Pereira is now dominating, defended about three times last year. He's one of the biggest stars in the sport. You shared the octagon with him. What do you make of the division right now?
The vision is good. A lot of things happen over there without me, so I'm a little bit jealous because they can fight me now, but now I'm back. Pereira is a big star right now. He's in great way in his career. But he do a great job over there. A lot I have a lot of experience he catch in these fights, but I'm ready to beat him again. But first of all, I need to beat Ulberg, so I focus about him.
Jan, speaking of that fight, obviously, this is a young guy making his way up and making some noise as he does it. What do you think about this matchup himself? What dangers does he present to you? How do you think the fight is going to play out over in London?
And how excited are you? I think there's going to be a stand-up fight. He's a kickboxer. I like to fight in stand-up, but it's a man. If I can take him down, I'm going to do it. It's normal. But I'm ready for a kickboxing match. He's younger than me, a little bit faster for sure, so that's going to be in his way. But I've He's got bigger experience than he's got. I need to watch out on his left hand because he got a very good left hand. He is very good on his feet. But I think the first round will be for him. But after first round, I think then I'm going to start take control inside the octagon in the third round will be finished. Take hour or KO. This is what I see in my head.
Given that Alex Pereira has gone through most of the division now and he's actually doing rematches with people, do you think that if you beat Carlos Ulberg and given the fact that you've got history with Pereira, you think you get through Ulberg, you do it in devastating fashion? Do you think that puts you right back at the top of the sport?
I believe in that, but I'm focused It's really about match and about Ulberg. I don't think what's going to happen later. But if I'm going to win, and I believe that, then I'm going to win. For sure, my next fight will be for the title. But we've got Pereira against Ancalaev, so we will see who's going to be the champion. I've got good story with Pereira and also with Ancalyev, so I'm going to use it. I'm going to use the story, and I hope so. If I beat Ulberg, my next fight will be for the title. But I'm focused only about match 22 right now.
And what do you think about that matchup, Jan? Who do you think takes it between those two?
We will see. I don't know. I'm 50-50, but with a little bit on Pereira side.
Jan, you've been You're in there with both of them. Come on, you're a big, strong guy. You got the legendary Polish power. You have an opinion to give. Give us the opinion. Don't bullshit us, Jan. Who is that guy? Okay.
So if Angelajv will If he will be fight like Rakuj in the fight with Pereira, he going to lose. He need to do something more. He need to use his wrestling skills to make tired to Pereira, make tired his hands, and then he can start fighting in stand-up. If he will fight in stand-up, only like kickboxer, he going to lose the fight. This is my opinion. If he not going to use his wrestling skills, he going to do nothing. Do you think he will, though? Also, he need to change a little bit. He need to be more aggressive. He have to believe in his skills, not like with Rakuj. It was a very boring fight. I almost go to sleep without punches. So he need to do a little bit more. Pereira, he have to do what he do all the time. Good timing, good power, punches, and that's it. Be careful on the wrestling.
Yeah, but do you think that he's willing to go out there and actually use his wrestling? Do you think he's got an ego about things that he's going to-I think this is a psychology game right now.
He going to say that he going to fight in standard, but if he going to just catch him, he try to take him down.
What is it like taking a clean shot to the face of Alex Pereira? Because people talk about this one punch, the touch of death that he has. But you went in there, you've been to a decision. Does it feel any different from other punches that you've taken?
In my gym, I've got one sparring partner. Now he's fighting MMA, but he was like a boxing fighter before. And I never fight against someone with this power punch like he've got. This is my sparring partner. So I always do three boxing runs with him before my fights. And then I know that nobody hit me stronger than he. So I don't care about power of Pereira or Ancalaia or nobody else, because I feel much more power in the sparring.
When you see Alex Pereira flying around the world, and I'm sorry to keep asking you about Alex because I know you're focused on Oldberg, But I know you guys had a really close fight, Salt Lake City at a lot of elevation. He's now a megastar, and he's making millions and millions of dollars per fight, and that's what we all want. When you see that and you're on the sidelines, and it's been two years, does a little part of you get a little- A little bit, yeah, but I don't think about this because I don't waste my energy for that.
I've got my ego also, and I'm a little bit jealous because I This should be my place. I should be there, but he is. But I don't think like this about him. He got his story, I've got my story, and that's it. I like Pereira. I don't have bad blood with him, so I wish him best. And I believe that we to beat someday inside the octagon again, and I'm going to have a chance to beat him, and that's it. But no bad blood. I wish him best, and that's it.
Jan, let me ask you this. Since you fought both those guys, and you may have opinions on who you think would win, but is there one of those guys that you'd prefer to have be the champion so that you could try to work yourself back up for that?
If I would like to choose, I would like to choose I will be the champion, and I have a chance to take rematch against him.
Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, that's obviously the bigger star of the two of them, right? And that's ultimately what we want, right? To fight the biggest, baddest guy. And also more attention means more money and all kinds of accolades coming your way.
Yeah, everything is in. And it's easier to find this funny partner like Pereira in my area. Yeah.
No, it is. I mean, Europe is full of strikers and kickboxers and stuff like that. You fought most of the biggest names. Excuse me. Fought most of the big names at 205. Yeah, there's some new blood come through now. There's Khalil Rountry. I don't think you fought him, but most of the guys there, you've been in there, you've beaten them, you've knocked out some legendary names. How old are you now yet?
42 today.
It's your birthday?
Yes. Happy birthday. It's your birthday. Thank you.
It's your birthday, and you choose to come on the podcast. Thank you so much. My computer just woke up, by the way. That's why I look weird.
Pleasure for me.
I've been very 42.
42.
What did you do today?
I'm in the mountain part of Poland. My training camp is always in the part of the... Where is mountains? I always do one week here to do great cardio and train with I'm a mountains guy. In the morning, I was in the mountains. In the evening, I have the drills in the gym. After the interview, I'm going to the restaurant, eat something good. Maybe I will drink my one small beer and go to sleep. I will celebrate my birthday after the fight.
Hell, yeah, dude. You celebrate it in London. You can have as many beers as you want there, buddy.
I know. Have you fought in London? I know. Have you fought in London? I'm waiting I have a fight for them. Sorry?
Have you fought in London before? I'm sure.
Yes, I have a fight against Jimmy Manuel over there. Okay. Eight years ago, something like this.
Yeah, I was going to say, when you get to London because of your birthday, because of training Training camp because of training all year and sacrificing, you go out there, you get a big win over Carlos Holberg, you're going to take us out because me and Paul are going to be there. We're commentating.
So you're going to take me somewhere over there. You're going to show me London by night.
We're taking you, buddy. 100 %. He is on Unless you get the bonus.
Okay, let's go. We're going to do it on party. The only problem with that is that people will say that we're being biased in our commentary.
If we organize a big Jan Blerowicz after-party, which I'm more than happy to do, people are going to be like, He's biased assholes, they just want Jan to win and hit the club.
And we'll say, yeah.
It doesn't matter. We're going to go. We're going to go for sure.
Yeah, I like this.
When you look at Carlos Solberg, he seems like a great guy. I'm assuming you guys have no issues or anything like that. Tall, long, really, really, really good striker. Were you happy with the matchup?
I'm very happy with the matchup. Seven wins in the row. I like him. I like his style, like a person and everything, but I don't care. It's time to stop him. So I'm happy that I'm coming back, and I'm happy that I can beat this guy who going to stop him in his win-strike. So, yeah, let's go. It's I don't need extra motivation, but this is something what I feel in this fight.
Jan, did you watch the fight on Saturday night with Henry Tehudo?
No, I'm not watching the fight. Now, I'm focused about my fight and sleep. When I've got time to sleep, I go to sleep and recover.
Okay, yeah. I was going to ask you your opinion. There was an eye poke and Henry couldn't- Yeah, I read something over there about this eye poke, but I don't have my opinion because I don't see all situation, don't see all fight, so I cannot. Yeah, but the reality is in those situations, nobody know.
It's happening.
Have you taken a bad eye poke in your career?
In the fight? Yeah, but not so bad. I can just go and fight, but not like this. But I remember in the gym, I have something like this. So it was 20 minutes, I cannot see on my left eye. After 20 minutes, I start to see. So sometimes it's very bad.
So I'm going to explain to Paul that Paul, Jan, Jan, we're going to let you go in a second because you're going to go celebrate your birthday. Good luck with your training camp. Thank you for your time. Jan has got quite the good singing voice. He likes to sing some Polish folk songs. I apologize again. The former champion, I look like shit. Jan, do you have a song to go into battle that you can perform for us tonight?
I can sing like... It's not for the battle, but everybody can sing.
Okay.
But in Polish. Please. I don't remember the rest.
. Janquia. Oh, shit. Jan, you are the man. It's great to have you back.
After a couple of beers, I'm a better singer.
I want to learn that song in London.
I will learn you in London.
What is that song roughly about? What is it singing about?
Everybody can sing. It doesn't matter if you are a good singer or bad. You can just sing, and don't care. Well, that's me in the car.
So you got balls, man, because I'll sing in the car, but I wouldn't come on a song, podcast and sing. But you got quite a good voice on the slide. Thank you.
Maybe after your UFC career, who knows?
There you go. Drikis Duplece went on the masked singer. You know what that is?
Was he really?
Yeah, you didn't know Did you see that, Paul?
No.
Yeah, he was on the Mask Singer in South Africa. Did he have that in Poland?
What?
The Masked Singer. The Mask Singer.
I don't know. I don't think so. I don't know what it is.
It's a TV show. You know my dad So maybe we got it, but I don't watch too much TV, so I don't know. Me neither. My dad was in.
One year ago, I won one TV show because I don't have something to do. So I won. Like, Asia Express, you know what is it?
No.
It's like they send us to Philly Philippines and Taiwan. First of all, we was in Philippines. And if you are longer in this competition, you go to Taiba. So you take your one friend, that was like 12 couples, 12 team, 2 person in watch team, one box in the day, no phones, and you need to just... And that was like a race. You need to ask people for the help, take stuff. After when the day was off, you need to find a place to sleep. There was crazy show, but very nice.
I want to do that.
It was an amazing show, and I won with my friend.
Let's go.
So now I'm also a triple champion right now because I am the KSW champion. I was. I was UFC champion, and now I'm the other Express champion.
No, you're the quadruple champ because you're the Believe You Me podcast, singing competition, 2025, winner of the year.
Okay, let's go.
Thank you so much for your time, Jan. We'll let you go. Always a pleasure talking to you, brother. Thank you.
Pleasure for me. All the best.
Take care, brother. Bye, Jan. He's the best. See you, Jan.
