Transcript of 'DESPERATION’: Former Green Beret analyzes government’s response to Helene
Fox NewsFormer Green Beret and Save Our Allies co founder who helped hurricane relief, Tim Kennedy is here. All right, Tim, when you hear that Harris says the response has been extraordinary, do you agree?
I think the response by private citizens, Americans, and the resilient communities of North Carolina have absolutely been extraordinary. I saw rednecks and four by fours and chainsaw, clear roads where federal employees got stuck at. I saw men and women in uniform coming from the 82nd and the 101st, and they arrived, and their response has been extraordinary. I'm so inspired by the American spirit, especially with the volunteers from so many incredible organizations. But it shouldn't fall on private organizations and nonprofits like Save Our Allies, Samaritan's Perce, Airlift. It shouldn't be on us. It's that we have those organizations for a reason, and the That part's broken my heart.
And we spend a lot of money on taxes. We give the government more than half in some cases. And the money goes to Lebanon, it goes to migrants, but people haven't even seen FEMA in some of these precincts. What are you hearing from those people?
I hear desperation. I hear people that are in remote areas. It's always the poor that are the most in dire need. And they're holding on to life by a tiny little thread. And that thread is currently being held by a lot of different NGOs and nonprofits and just good Americans, good citizens, and good Samaritans that are getting up there. We are now 11 days into this. We should have this under control. Milton is on its way. Save Our Allies is looking at pivoting people to Florida because evidently, there's not going to be enough money from the federal organizations to deal with the disasters that are on the table right now. We're just going to keep on working because work has to be done to save lives.
Well, you're doing a great job. Save Our Allies is a fantastic organization. You guys do really extraordinary work. If anybody out there watching wants to help, it's a great place to go. Check them out and donate if you can. Thank you so much, Tim. We really appreciate it.
Keep it up. Thank you so.
