Pushkin. Hey, it's Jake. I'm in your feed today to tell you about a special mini-series that the DeepCover team is releasing very soon. It's all about George Santos, the Republican congressman from New York, who told a lot of stories about his life and his credentials. Many of which, turns out, were not true. And now, in just a few weeks, Santos is scheduled to face a criminal trial. This is a story that my producer, Amy Gaines-McQuade, has been following for a while. She's talked to a lot of people to try to answer the question, who is George Santos really?
That's why Mr. Ripley meets Catch me if you can. I mean, the guy hoodwinked everyone.
George Santos did not give me access. He became a challenge to me. I needed to talk to this man. Clearly, I want to ask where he got his money from because that was the big discrepancy, right?
He was very ambiguous and sketchy, quite honestly, about what the company did and how it made so much money overnight.
What prosecutors allege in the indictment is that most of that $12,000 goes directly to Santos's personal bank account.
I would go down these rabbit holes and start thinking about what is the nature of truth? What can I actually actually tell the reader is real about this guy's story?
My phone is literally blowing up inquiries about saying, Is George going to jail? What's going on? And I thought, Oh, my God, this is... Why are you doing that?
Why? Deep cover, George Santos, coming August 19th from Pushkin Industries.
