You're not in a good position. You don't have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards. But right now, you don't have your playing cards.
So that was one of the most extraordinary meetings in the oval office, and the lack of gratitude. I think now does put the future of USAID potentially in doubt, certainly stalled unless they can radically heal this relationship. What diplomacy, JD, you are speaking about?
What do you mean?
I'm talking about the diplomacy that's going to end the destruction of your country. Yes, but if you are not- Mr. President, with respect, I think it's disrespectful for you to come into the oval office and try to litigate this in front of the American media.
What does that mean for the war? Well, it certainly puts in doubt Ukraine's ability to fight on the front lines. They want to go it alone with European support, but it might not be enough. So we are facing the possibility in the months ahead that things radically change along the front line where Russia is already advancing. Does that spell World War III?
You're gambling with the lives of millions of people. You think You're gambling with World War III. You're gambling with World War III.
I think Trump was saying Zelensky was gambling with that. The gamble is negotiating with Russia and trusting them in negotiations, where in the past, experience has taught the West that really they simply use those moments to advance their military goals. What's next? It's important to not overestimate Russian military power. They've struggled to defeat an army that they thought they could defeat in three days. And I think we're seeing now the real metal of Ukraine's ability to go it alone being tested. The question, though, unfortunately, is what Europe is able to do because they simply haven't ever had to entertain the idea of acting as a deterrent without the US on their back. All Russia's calculations are based around that. All Ukraine's calculations are based around that. And so this is why I think we're entering into such uncharted waters.
