Christians across Syria have protested after mast gunmen set fire to a Christmas tree in a town in Hamza province. They're demanding the new Islamist rulers protect religious minorities. The ruling faction, HTS, said that the men responsible for burning the tree in the Christian-majority town of Sukai Labaiya had been detained. It described them as foreign fighters. The Islamist HTS movement, which has its roots in Al Qaeda, has promised to protect minorities since toppling President Busha-Assad earlier this month.
